GAIA Kosovo is happy to announce 5 day workshop about natural building and insulation
Building with Nature in Mind!
16th – 22nd of September 2019
The workshops is open to maximum 15 participants from Kosovo, who are interested in natural building, working with natural materials such as mud and straw and team work.
The workshop will consist of theoretical part about natural building, energy efficiency and insulation and practical part preparation and application of earthen plasters on straw bale walls.
Natural building is a way of constructing housing and other structures with a major emphasis on sustainability, that’s why mostly materials from regenerable, minimally processed and thus compostable resources, such as wood, clay and straw are used for construction.
Natural building is sustainable, without waste, inclusive, creative, team work and fun! Natural building is for everyone regardless of their experience, age, gender, or any background.
In general, from participants of this workshops it is expected to be:
- interested in natural building and environmental topics
- present during the whole duration of it
- willing to work in a team
- ready for hard work
- spend one week in relatively simple, but nature friendly conditions, which also includes tasty, local vegetarian food
No previous experience is required!
Accommodation and food will be provided and travel costs within Kosovo reimbursed! It will be done in English with combinations of Albanian and Serbian.
The facilitators of the workshop are experienced builders from the region.
If you are enthusiastic about natural building and interested to learn about it by doing it, you should fill in this registration form before 8th of September 2019.
In Boževce/Bozhevcë, we build with nature in mind as we are implementing a permaculture design – natural building comes as a logical option while developing the estate. It is non-toxic and materials that we will use for building will be 100% local!
During this workshop, we will be putting the last layer of mud plaster on the walls built with straw. The aim is to make long term protection of the walls of the house which will be used for environmental education and volunteering programs about permaculture, sustainable living, food production, regenerative agriculture….
The place will become an example of natural, local and economically affordable solutions, as well as a place for demonstration for straw bale building, rocket stove mass heater (heating system), reed bed (grey water filtering system) and much more.
This activity is part of the activities organized during the second edition of Kosovo Sustainable Development Week. Fore more information, visit www.ksdw.info
