[JULY UPDATE] As we announced in May on this same page, the current sanitary situation brings a lot of uncertainties about the events that GAIA Kosovo can organize this summer. As the situation did not improve greatly since the workcamp season was put on hold, we decided to cancel all workcamps for 2020. Depending on the various measures taken by the government of Kosovo, some camps can perhaps be organized for citizens of Kosovo only, but as of early July, nothing is planned.
The ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic is disturbing our normal schedule for international volunteering activities. It is hard to foresee how the situation will evolve in the following months. As a precaution, we decided to suspend all workcamp applications for the time being. The situation will be re-evaluated on 1st June, and according to different elements to take into account (sanitary measures in Kosovo, reopening of borders in the world, extent of the pandemic) we will take the decision to reopen the applications, or to extend the suspension. In the meantime, you will not be able to see our workcamps displayed on OPS (the online platform where you can apply for camps), but keep in mind that there is still a chance that some will be organized in late summer.
The workcamp season we envisioned involves the following camps:
- Prishtina Bear Sanctuary, taking care of the animals and arrange the space for visitors
- Draganac monastery, helping to prepare the Slava celebration
- Bozevce, working on natural building and permaculture
- Imaginatorium, providing non-formal education activities for Roma kids
Because of the situation, we cannot set dates for certain as of today.
Thank you for your understanding.
