Through advancements in technology and the growth of the internet and social media, the world continues to become more connected. Ideas, and now even people, can travel quickly, with many taking the chance to gain valuable experience abroad. For us as students in particular, this holds potential for personal growth and career development. The same means for us because during march, we, Elbasan and Bleona had the opportunity to participate in a international training in Bad Bevensen, small town in the north Germany.
The training was about Living diversity and strengthening social cohesion in Europe. This 10-day international training brought together up to 20 youth workers and other multipliers from 8 European NGOs, most of them representing often marginalized groups such as migrants or minority communities.
In times of a global pandemic, increasing inequality, racism and discrimination, they wanted to use this unique learning opportunity to jointly discover ways to promote diversity and anti- discrimination through intercultural dialogue in youth work. For us as two participants from Kosovo, it really was a great opportunity for personal growth. We had the opportunity to meet new people from different countries, since there were people from the different countries of Europe: Germany, Italy, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Ukraine, and us, Elbasan and Bleona from Kosovo. We had a diverse environment and we had the opportunity to meet different people from different countries and sharing parts of our culture, language and traditions.
We had a lot of different activities everyday, such as campaigns, interviewing people, excursions etc. I appreciate to mention our excursion to Hamburg, and we were impressed by the infrastructure and the view. You can find bellow some of the pictures we took during the excursion in Hamburg. We can openly say that this was the best experience ever in our life and a big thank goes to Gaia Kosovo for the assistance in participating procedures.
